This was supposed to be the easy win of the pack. It wasn’t.
The flavour lives entirely on the fudge coating - inside it’s a standard Oreo, which I think is just how they manufacture these. What comes through is pie spice, and a lot of it. It reads as imitation pumpkin, because it is.
There were three distinct stages for me: a first taste that was straight up bad, a second taste that was also bad, and then a third flavour that lingered and wasn’t terrible. Matti was kinder to it than I was.
They’ve done apple pie and blueberry pie in the past and both were genuinely some of the best Oreos ever made. So this one stings. If pumpkin pie was going to be the high point of the pack, we were in trouble - and we were.
