I grew up with severe food allergies (still have them). As a kid, that meant a lot of the treats, cakes, and candy everyone else was eating weren't on my menu.
Oreos were. They were one of the few sweets I could always count on being safe, and they turned into my comfort food.
I started reviewing Oreos on Instagram in 2021. At first it was just me eating a cookie and saying what I thought. Then people started reaching out to tell me how much they liked the reviews, and a few even mailed me flavors from other countries. So the reviews kept going, and they got a little more serious each year.
What I never had was one place to keep it all. The scores were scattered across years of videos and captions, and finding what I thought of a flavor from two years ago meant a lot of scrolling. So I built this site, and now every review and every score lives in one spot.
How the scores work
Everything is on one ten-point scale, and every score is measured against the whole history of Oreos, not against desserts in general or whatever I ate right before it.
- Under 5: I don't really want this.
- 5: Okay.
- 6: Fine.
- 7: Good.
- 8: Great.
- 9: Outstanding.
- 10: Perfect. Only one Oreo has ever earned it: Cookie Dough.
This is always fun for me, and I try to keep it funny, but the tasting notes are real. When I said the turkey and stuffing Oreo tasted like a mouthful of dirt with a chain smoker blowing into it, that was a genuine attempt at explaining the flavor. I stand by it.
Who's Matti?
Matti is my wife and my co-taster. Her score shows up next to mine as the second opinion. We almost never land on the same number.
Got a flavor for me?
Most reviews started as Instagram videos, and you'll find the video linked on a review whenever there is one. Follow along at @alexthiemefitness. If there's an Oreo flavor I haven't reviewed yet that you'd like me to check out, shoot me a message on Instagram and I'll get around to it.
